Chakras
The Chakras are energy centres with in our physical body and extending to our spiritual body (Aura). Chakra is a Sanskrit word for spinning wheel of light. There are 7 main chakras in the body. It is essential to cleanse and heal your chakras to live a more balanced and fulfilled life. Each chakra governs specific organs and emotions.
Here is a little intro into the chakras.
Base or Root Chakra
The Sanskrit name for this chakra is “Muladhara”, a compound term formed out of the words “root” and “support”. The base chakra colour is red and is responsible for our grounding us to the physical world, for home life, security, connection to earth, money, our tribe and most prominently survival.
If your base chakra isn’t balanced you can feel unsure, unsafe in the world, away with the fairies, particularly insecure. Physically it affects your skeleton, legs, feet, bowel, large intestine, tail bone, varicose veins, lower back pain.
Crystals for the base chakra can include garnet, red jasper, ruby, obsidian, hematite, smoky quartz and black tourmaline. The power of these stones is often invoked by placing them over the chakra during a healing or meditation.
Essential oils for the base chakra include cypress, clary sage, frankincense, geranium, ylang ylang, vetiver, cedarwood, sandalwood and ginger.
An affirmation for your base Chakra could be – “I am a divine being of light, and I am safe, protected and secure.”
Sacral Chakra or Sex Chakra
Sanskrit name for the sacral chakra is “Svadhisthana”, which means your own place or the dwelling place for oneself. The colour for this chakra is orange. The sacral chakra is associated with the emotional body, sensuality, to having a connection with people – all relationships, our creativity, ideas, and sexuality.
If your sacral chakra isn’t balanced you can feel emotional, depressed, low libido, lack of creativity, fear of happiness, you can and will self-sabotage, emotional over attachment or detachment from relationships and more. Physically this chakra will affect your blood, your reproductive system, kidneys, circulation and bladder.
Crystals for healing and balancing the sacral chakra include orange calcite, tigers eye, moonstone, orange jasper, amber, mookatite, carnelian the power of these stones is often invoked by placing them over the chakra during a healing or meditation.

Sanskrit name for this chakra is “Maṇipūra” which means “jewel city”. The colour for this chakra is yellow. The solar plexus chakra is all about personal power, self-confidence, and the perception of who you are. Physically the solar plexus is connected to your digestion, liver, spleen, stomach, small intestine and metabolism.
If this chakra isn’t balanced you can have a lack of self-confidence have food intolerances, have a digestive disorder, feel powerless, insecure and unable to assert yourself.

Heart Chakra
The Sanskrit name “Anahata” means “unhurt, unstruck, and unbeaten”. The colour for this chakra is green and often pink is also associated.
The heart chakra is all about safety trust, risk taking and love. It is also responsible for balancing the world of matter (lower three chakras) with the world of spirit (upper three chakras). If this chakra isn’t balanced one can feel alone, isolated, detached from all around you, you can feel hopeless and distrustful. Physically the heart chakra is connected to the heart, lungs, breasts and arms.

Throat Chakra
The Sanskrit name is “Viśuddha”, in English means “especially pure”.
The colour for the throat chakra is blue.
The throat chakra is all about communication, allowing you to communicate effectively for fear of ridicule and judgement. A throat chakra blockage can also manifest as the inability to express and realise your truth in the world. Physically this chakra governs the thyroid, throat and speech organs the neck and back of shoulders.

Third eye chakra
The Sanskrit name is Anja, and in English it means command or perceive. The third eye chakra colour is indigo, and it relates to intuition, psychic awareness, foresight, dreams, thoughts, your mind and ideas. Physically it governs the eyes, ears, left and right hemispheres of the brain. If your third eye is not balanced you can feel stuck in the daily grind of life and unable to see past your problems, you will have lack of clarity, be unable to establish a vision for yourself, you can even live in a fantasy world.

Crown chakra
The Sanskrit name for the crown chakra is Sahasrāra, in English means “thousand-petaled”. The colour for this chakra is white, silver or violet. The crown chakra is our connection to the higher self and universal oneness. The Crown chakra is primarily associated to the pituitary gland, and secondarily to the pineal and the hypothalamus. If your crown chakra isn’t balanced you can be living in your head and distant from all around you, you can be obsessive and closed minded, disconnected to spirit and be in constant cynicism regarding what is sacred and spiritual.
